Crazy Wisdom Book Reading: June 26th, 2025

On June 26th, Sharon Diotte had her first official book reading and signing at the Crazy Wisdom Bookstore in Downtown Ann Arbor. Sharon has long been a patron of Crazy Wisdom, and was delighted that they hosted her first book reading. Sharon’s daughter, Yasmin, flew all the way from Seattle just for the day in order to attend, and Sharon’s joy was palpable. Including Yasmin and Sharon’s husband, Louis, there were 40 people who came to hear Sharon read and speak about the journey of Te’ora. Sharon wishes to thank everybody in attendance, familiar faces and new, and especially thank Crazy Wisdom for their hospitality.

It was exciting to see the tea room above the bookstore set up for Sharon’s event. Her flyer and books were on display, and the chairs were ready for a full house! Sharon also set up a table near the top of the stairs with some of her friend’s books, like Ainslie McLeod’s The Old Soul’s Guidebook and Instruction, Dennis K. Chernin’s A Physician’s Journey, Cheryl A. Page’s Mystic Kindness, and Patricia Fero’s Sacred Marching Orders.

Sharon warmly greeted the audience and proceeded to read three different passages from her book, and provided some of her thoughts about the writing process. Everyone listened respectfully as Sharon proved herself to be an excellent speaker. Afterwards, she took a question from the audience, which was: “What advice would you give to someone wanting to write a memoir, or something of this nature, if you’re feeling stuck or particularly vulnerable in sharing stuff like that?” Sharon then went on to share a quote from popular writer, V.E. Schwab, and some other guidance about facing your fears.

Sharon also thanked some special people in her life who made Te’ora possible, emphasizing how important community is when writing a vulnerable story like hers. After the reading, members of the audience lined up to get their copies of Te’ora signed by the author. When all was said and done, a small party of Sharon’s close friends and family went out to dinner next door to Vinology. We found it to be the perfect place to celebrate Sharon’s first reading, and what a success it was! Having excellent service coupled with impeccable meals was the perfect way to end the evening.

So thank you, Vinology, Crazy Wisdom, and everyone who made Te’ora’s first reading a success! Speaking for myself, I was honored to be a part of it all and meet some of Sharon’s friends and followers! I can’t wait for the next reading.
